A loan helped a minority woman owned business impact a growing community.

Briaon's story

I grew up in a very small, low socioeconomic area in south Louisiana. I always enjoyed art, but I never really had to opportunity to study it or do it much in my free time because I was always told that it couldn’t make you any money. During the pandemic I had to opportunity to not only create art, but run a business I am passionate about where others were able to support from the comforts of their homes. In 2021 I was able to open an art studio in a growing city where I have been able to host paint parties, pottery classes, dance classes, yoga lessons, fitness sessions and much more. Recently, I’ve decided to create a non profit sector of my business in which the mission is to empower and advance low socioeconomic areas through the arts. In 2022 I plan to offer weekly after school art classes for children at an affordable rate for parents. A kiva loan would help me to purchase proper inventory, cover payroll expenses for employees, and have the ability to offer these classes at an affordable rate to these families while in the process of gaining 501c3 status.

This loan is special because:

It supports this passionate entrepreneur to expand their business.
