A loan helped to purchase her general store supplies.

Olive's story

Thirty-seven-year-old Olive is a hardworking mother of six, ages 19, 17, 8, 6, 4 and 3. She is married and her husband is a seasonal worker who travels overseas for seasonal employment. They live in their local settlement north east of Efate, about 40-minute ride to town. Three of her children attend school and this is her second loan. To make a living, she manages her general store.

Two years ago, she opened her store with the aim of supporting her family with their daily finances. Her dream is to improve her family's living conditions. Her current plan is to enhance her store output to match consumer demand. However, she is financially strained.

Olive is asking for a loan to purchase new stock. The business revenue will be used to cover home costs, children's school tuition and put money into her savings. With this funding, she is motivated to expand her business and ensure a better future for her family.
