Natural-born entrepreneur in Colombia expands his business with a loan

November 4, 2019

Victor Manuale made an income for the first time when he was 13. His first client was a woman in Barranquilla, Colombia. She asked him to pick some honey for her from a nearby town called Carmen de Bolivar.

Ever since then, Victor has been transporting natural products from Carmen de Bolivar to Barranquilla.

Victor went through many obstacles in his career, including when his brother-in-law fell ill and was unable to help him with the business. Victor had to work overtime.

“My advice for others in this type of business is to be as efficient as possible since transportation has a high operational cost,” Victor said.

But the loan he got from Kiva made it possible. It helped him to increase his inventory, his sales and his client base.

He believes that every lender should keep investing in other borrowers, as it’s impossible to maintain a business without having a source of capital to depend on in times of need.

Victor hopes to expand his business by selling honey from the beehive from his grandfather’s farm. He wants to involve more people in his family and allow more people to make a profit.

He aims to set a good example for his two sons who are currently in school. He hopes they get a good education and become good people.
