Sope Cheikh Ahmed Tidiane Group's story

Mr. Souleymane, holding the ram's horn, is the president of the "Sope Cheikh Ahmed Tidiane" group, a Wolof term meaning "Cheikh Ahmed's loved ones" in English. He is a 39-year-old livestock farmer. Raising his left hand, he is married to a farmer and the father of two children, aged 7 to 12, all of whom are in school.

Mr. Souleymane is a solvent client of VFS; she has been in this business for 27 years. With this loan, he plans to purchase animals (sheep and goats) to strengthen his business and increase his income.

To stock up, Mr. Souleymane visits the weekly markets in his locality and then resells them in the neighborhood and surrounding areas. The income he generates allows him to meet his family's needs in the following areas: health, food, education, hygiene, etc.

Among the challenges he faces are fierce competition, loss and illness of animals, and high transportation costs.

Mr. Souleymane hopes to expand his business nationally.
