Vida Y Esperanza 1 Group's story
Meet the "Vida y Esperanza 1" ["Life and Hope 1"] communal association. It is in its 8th cycle and it is made up of eight members who are known for their solidarity. The predominant businesses are: selling vegetables, selling drinks, a small grocery store, selling tortillas, and selling food.
Rosa Amalia (dressed in a pink shirt and blue jeans) is 36 years old and considered to be a kind, hardworking, and responsible person. She is single and has two daughters who are both in school. Three people live in her house.
Her business is selling fruits and vegetables, and she has had this business for 13 years. What she likes most about her business is having a variety of products to offer to her customers.
The loan will be used to buy one sack of cassava, one "quintal" [about 100 pounds] of potatoes, one quintal of onions, two boxes of tomatoes, two boxes of "chiltoma" [chili pepper], and one sack of carrots.
Her hopes and dreams for the future are to have her own shop in order to grow her business. She advises the women to fight for their dreams, and if they take out a loan, to invest it responsibly in the business.
